(Simple video signal generator for testing CRT and LCD monitors)
What is this device?
This is a simple video signal generator primarily designed to verify whether a monitor is able to correctly display 15 kHz horizontal sync video modes (Amiga, Atari, arcade systems, and many other retro systems), with an optional 31 kHz horizontal sync mode (standard VGA output). It can be used to check signal compatibility, image geometry, focus and convergence (CRT), RGB color reproduction, and synchronization. The vertical sync frequency can be selected between 50 Hz and 60 Hz, making it suitable for testing both PAL and NTSC video timings.
Four test patterns are available for evaluating geometry, color reproduction, and synchronization. All operating modes and test patterns are selected via DIP switches.
Power is supplied either via USB or by two CR2032 batteries. Battery operation allows completely portable use, making it convenient for on-site testing, such as when purchasing monitors or testing equipment at flea markets or similar locations.
A VGA gender changer is included, allowing direct connection to the monitor without a VGA cable, if there is enough space around the monitor’s VGA connector.
